Speechmatics, the Cambridge-based leaders in machine learning and automated speech recognition, is delighted to announce the appointment of John Milliken as its CEO.
The appointment signals the company’s intent to expand to the next level, with John perfectly placed to cement Speechmatics’ position as a clear leader in the industry.
Following a rigorous interview process, John was selected due to a rich history and proven track record of rapidly accelerating growth and revenue of small & medium-sized enterprises.
Speechmatics’ Chairman, Richard Gibson, said:
“We are privileged to have met with a number of very strong entrants, but John was the outstanding candidate. He has an exceptional record of accelerating the growth of businesses across both the public and private sector, and we’re delighted to have him at the helm during what is an incredibly exciting time for the company.”
John joins Speechmatics from Infomedia, where his role as COO saw him drive business growth strategy and continued global expansion. Prior to that, he was instrumental in establishing two successful Fintech ventures, including holding senior roles at the UK’s first mobile banking company, Monitise, which reached a peak market capitalisation of over £1.5bn.
“This is a tremendous and incredibly exciting opportunity, so I’m naturally delighted to be guiding Speechmatics as it makes the next step from start up to scale up,” said John Milliken.
“The last few years has seen Speechmatics grow rapidly while also developing the best technology on the market, so the foundations are very much in place for us to build upon our existing partnerships, as well as establish new ones, and hire the best new talent as we continue to grow.”
