This month, we hosted our monthly Go meetup at our offices in Cambridge, welcoming the programming community to come and learn more about the up-and-coming language. The meetup is a fantastic opportunity for people of all knowledge levels and experience with Go to come and learn more about its application and to network with like-minded people while enjoying beer and pizza!
Speechmatics’ very own Software Development Engineer, Michel Hollands, led a discussion titled Go Modules and the Athens Project. The talk was divided into learning about modules and the Athens Project, as well as a live demonstration of how it works.
Attendees were shown how the Athens Project can locally cache Go Modules to help speed up building development projects. You can find some of the results from the demo in the table below. If this sounds interesting, you can flick through the presentation slides.
It was a great discussion and fantastic to see so many people getting involved and asking lots of interesting questions.
Massive thanks to the attendees for turning up on such a sunny day in Cambridge! A special thanks also to GoBridge (through William Kennedy) for sponsoring the meetup fees.
If you’re interested in Go and want to get involved in our community, why not join the Cambridge Gophers on Meetup? We’re also always on the lookout for speakers for future meetups, so if you’re interested in sharing your experiences, get in touch!
